The City of Moberly Water Treatment Plant (WTP) has a rated capacity of 5.0 million gallons per day (MGD) and operates at average flow of 1250 gallons per minute. The City’s current demand is approximately 1.1 MGD, which the WTP supplies by operating an average of 14 hours per day. The WTP completed renovations in 2006 to 2007 with new lime and carbon feed systems, low service and high service pumps, covered secondary settling basin, and filter media replacement.
The City’s source of raw water is Sugar Creek Lake, located Northwest of the City. The WTP staff manages the Lake and surrounding areas including recreational facilities; 200 acres of timber, boat ramps, shelter houses, and a Ranger Station that can be utilized for meetings, weddings, reunions, and other events. Fishing and boating are allowed, but swimming is strictly prohibited. Boats must operate at idle speed only.
